West Texas A&M University is launching the Microsoft IT Academy program, making an extensive collection of online learning materials available to all WTAMU students. The Microsoft IT Academy program makes training available so you can:

  • Work at your own pace on your own schedule
  • Take as many courses as you want, as many times as you want
  • Earn certifications that are valued by employers

Who is Eligible to Take the Training?

  • Any currently enrolled WTAMU Student.

How Do You Get Started?

  • Get an access code for the training you want to take. Each course has a specific access code that you must enter to get access to the course.
  • Sign-in at http://itacademy.microsoftelearning.com and start learning. Use your WTAMU Student email account
    (EX: jdsmith1@buffs.wtamu.edu) which already has a Windows Live account associated with it.

Where Do You Get The Access Codes?

  • Course access codes can be found by logging in to MyBuff Portal (from the WTAMU home page - www.wtamu.edu) and clicking on the Microsoft IT Academy link. Write down the access code for the training(s) you would like to take.

Follow the steps below to get started with IT Academy E-Learning via Access Codes:

  1. Go to the student E-Learning Site: http://itacademy.microsoftelearning.com
  2. From the Take Training section on the right side, select the Click here link under Enter Access Code

  3. Check the box to accept the End User License Agreement
  4. Copy and paste the access code into the blank box
  5. Enter your WTAMU student E-mail address and click Enter

  6. Click Continue on the Sign In Notification page

  7. Sign in with your Microsoft Account (Windows Live ID – your buffs.wtamu.edu email and password) and password and click Sign in on right hand side of screen.

    If you cannot remember your password, you can use the “forgot password” prompt to reset your password.  

    However, if you have not set up contact information (alternate email, cell phone for text) on your email account, you will need to contact the WTAMU ITSC (Help Desk) to get your email password reset.  Contact the Help Desk at:  806.651.4357 or itsc@wtamu.edu.
    • You may be prompted to fill out a Personal Information page during your first time signing in. In this case, complete the required fields and click Continue.

    • You will see a “Thank You” message with a list of courses you can access through the E-Learning Library

  8. Click My Learning to open the main page and get started with a course
  9. Access course materials and assessments from the My Learning topic in the left-navigation menu
  10. To access a course, click the hyperlinked name of the course

Subsequent Student E-Learning Sign-in

After the initial sign in has been completed, you can access the IT Academy directly by following these steps:

  1. Go to the student site http://itacademy.microsoftelearning.com
  2. Click the Go button under the Take Training section on the right of the home page (see Figure 1)
  3. Click Continue to sign in with your school email or Microsoft Account

Congratulations – you are ready to start the Microsoft IT Academy E-Learning!
